This is what the 68 SFBMR looked lke when I picked it up. Badly in need of a cap job, leaking cap. I cleaned up the dog house and replaced the caps, resistors, grounded cord etc. and now its dead silent at idle.

The early BMR didn't have a Blackline faceplate, just the drip edge, early grill cloth and blue molded caps. It does have the Teflon wire, designated by the TFL on the faceplate. Really not an issue, I’ve worked with both pushback and teflon and no issues with either one. The pushback might have better tone, havent really noticed, lol.

We see this, probably because of not being logged into whatever site the image is on.

Nothing wrong with vintage Jensens, nothing at all! I'm hoarding a pair of Fender-marked C12NA's for eventual use in my '68 Pro Reverb, deep-sixing its current OEM Utah's.

Photo bucket will not show your picture and try to extort you for money to allow linking.

Mainly was wondering about the questions, which you have answered.

Those Vintage Fender labled Jensens are my favorite speaker, I have 3 sets of them right now. The C12NA cones have 22 ribs vs. the C12N that have 7 or 9 ribs depending in the year.

I’ve used Photobucket for years on other sites and never had that problem. I have tons of gear picture albums stored there.

Wow I never heard about this and I was able to link pictures not that long ago as I remember to other sites. Most of the sites allow you to upload pictures from your photo album and dont require a host site like this forum. I’m going to try posting on another site to see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

Roadhog,

I managed to find my way to your pictures, those are some very nice looking, clean amps.

Insides look more like a blackface in terms of lead dress, wires run under the circuit board, and cloth covered wires even though the circuit itself is definitely silverface.

Nice looking tele, too.

The 'silverface' era seems to have started in the spring of 1967 (at least that's when I first uncrated a few that were delivered to the music store I part-timed at). Initially, the sole difference between them and the previous blackface models was cosmetic only. Thus, all of the silverface amps started out using the original blackface circuit revisions and Fender's very tidy lead dress using cloth push-back wiring. The SF Pro Reverb was still an AA165, the SF Princeton Reverb was still an AA1164, the SF Dual Showman was still an AB763, etc etc. It wasn't until May of the following year when the CBS dilettantes began their onerous tinkering with Leo's classic designs. Thus, the early silverfaces are in many instances just as nice as the blackfaces and IMO nearly as valuable.

Yes, I've seen pictures, and those usually were "black line" faceplates. I've never seen a SFBMR like that though.

I’m glad it worked for you, I dont know about Photobucket its acting screwy now. Last night I had a complete slideshow of the SFBMR up and running and now when I click on the same posted link it shows one picture of the power and rec tubes and a bunch of beer pictures that arent mine.
So did you get to see all the pictures of the SFBMR? When I got that amp I don’t believe it had ever been opened, even had all the original tubes. I had to work to get the chassis out of the cabinet, it was literally stuck to the screen sheilding. Everything looked totally original and untouched. I think the filter cap started leaking when the guy I bought from turned it on to see if it worked. It hadn’t been used in years. The flashing in the power tubes looks like new, no discoloration on the outer edges at all.
