Well......this isn't a Fender and the tone it attemps to produce reflects that. I got this in for servicing and it's in mint condition so I figured I'd post a picture anyway. The guts look like a plateful of linguine. (I'll add a shot of that tomorrow)

Its a "soup can" over a Philco transformer. The amp was pulled out of a basement by my neighbor who runs estate sales. The previous owner had been a Philco rep..... tons of Philco stuff in the house. So I am assuming he found this amp and used what he needed from his supply to make it somehow function. We (my amp tech and I) left it because its just a great part of the amp's story. The tubes are military surplus..... which the basement was filled with. Amazingly enough..... there was only one wire that had been purposely disconnected from the circuit. My tech re-soldered it.... and the amp is just amazing.

FWIW - There is no reverb on this particular model. This is a 6G11.

Love it.

I was in Detroit this Fall and stopped by Jack White's record shop "Third Man Records".... bought me some vinyl. I probably need get a new needle for the turntable. They are pressing vinyl in the bottom photo. The production shop is at the back of the retail storefront.

There is no mojo to see a soup can than a vintage Philco transformer. I'll remove the can to see the Philco.

Yes! Big revival in vinyl. Many good remasters being done by Sundazed, FridayMusic, & this neat place (just to name a few).
