Does anyone know where I can find a chassis pan for a silverface champ? New, used, etc... I've checked and searched all the usual places (that I can think of)... Any other models use the exact same size pan?

No, Champ doesn't have a filter pan. I'm looking for an entire empty chassis! Doesn't need the board, transformers or anything...

Ok a chassis ! Look a the link I wrote. Or Google Fender Champ chassis .

Champ chassis may be all same , it is the faceplate ( blackface or silverface ) are different . It is another piece to buy

I did not realize the vibro champ was the same size. I had in my head it was a little larger... Guess I was wrong about that. Thanks!

AFAIK, the BF and SF Champ and VC amps share the same chassis.

I've also always been under the impression that the Champ and VibroChamp are the same size.

Tons of extra room in a Champ chassis for one extra tube and two extra knobs. It would have been a waste of money to build two sets of jigs and set up two production lines for two different sized chassis and cabs.

And we all know how frugal Leo was.
-----------------
I'm curious about why the quest for a Champ chassis?

Do you have a Champ cab that needs electronics? (Lots of Champs and VibroChamps have been rehoused in larger cabs to accomodate larger speakers, leaving orphan stock cabs.)

Correct.

Those two models share that same chassis size, along with the SF Bronco and SF Musicmaster Bass amps.

Yep - after completing a project last year with my '72 champ involving a custom made tweed cabinet & a 12" speaker, I now have a spare champ cabinet... And I also now have some amp guts that have no home.

I've owned that champ since new, and sort of been thinking I'd like to put it's chassis back in the original cabinet, and use the orphan amp guts to build a new champ styled chassis to put in the custom cabinet.

What would be nice is a small head unit. The SE 6V6GT makes a great little amp, through a cab. You need to DIY the head cab...

Super cool that you're going to put your Champ back together and then build something new for the bigger cab.

With the amp build you can do wild and crazy things that you'd regret doing to your stock Champ.

You'll have extra holes for 2 more knobs, and an extra punchout for an additional preamp tube.

If tremolo/vibrato doesn't interest you, you could do a little firebreathing monster. Two extra gain stages, t/m/b tone stack, master volume.
------------------
Or go the opposite direction. With a custom faceplate you could do a one knob or two knob tweed circuit.
-----------------
Heck, lots of extra room in that chassis. Use 3 knobs for a blackface circuit and the other 2 knobs for a tweed circuit.
---------------
Or just build a stock Champ and have 2 great amps. You could drive yourself insane if you start contemplating all the mods you could do.

I need yet another amp like I need another hole in my head, but I do feel better about keeping my original champ original. I suppose it improves my ratio of amps to guitars...

I've got the guts of a Champ clone, except it uses a 6Z4 rectifier. That's what I'm starting with. The other main difference is it has a tone control instead of separate bass & treble pots. That probably won't stay that way... I'll be swapping out the OT with one that has a secondary winding for 3.2 ohm so I can use the weber speaker I got for the new cabinet.

I found a completely blank chassis for $45, or there's the pre-punched mojo one for almost double that price...
