I am the power owner of this amp and would like to jump up to 6L6 tones, I know that the bias supply, Transformers are an issue to address.

Can anyone point me into the right direction to get this done?

How old are the current 6L6GC in the amp? Maybe, you just need a new pair?

"Mod for 6L6's", "would like to jump up to 6L6 tone", "transformers"?

As BMW2002Ti implied, 6L6's were the stock tubes in the Concert II.

Was your amp modded to run some other type of tubes and you're asking about reversing those mods?

Was "6L6" a multiple typo and you want to change from 6L6's to something else?

Inquiring minds want to know.

OK, now it makes sense.

Well, kinda makes sense. I understand minor mods and tweaking an amp to bring out its best characteristics.

But trying to make an amp into a completely different beast seems a bit pointless to me. Especially when there are so many 6L6 amps available. Even more especially on a somewhat rare, somewhat vintage, somewhat collectable Rivera-era amp. Among Rivera-era fans, the PII has a strong reputation as one of the best models.

There are far fewer 6V6 amps and it seems a shame to me to convert one.

The cost of new transformers would be a big step toward buying a 6L6 amp. Then you'd have both flavors to choose from when the mood hits you.

If you already have 6L6 amps and have decided you just don't dig 6V6's, there are people like me who like 6V6's better than 6L6's. Maybe move the PII on and get a Rivera designed 6L6.
------------------
As a minimally invasive first step, have you tried JJ 6V6's in it? They aren't true 6V6's -- more like small bottle 6L6's. Most reviews say their sound is somewhere in-between the two tube types.

Does yours have the Fender Special Design speaker, or the optional EV? If it has the FSD I'd be way more inclined to put an EVM12L in it before doing any major electronic surgery.

EVM12L tip: the originals are slightly better than the current reissues and you can easily find them for half the price of current ones.

Concert II was available with one 12" or two 10" speakers. I'm not aware of a one 15" version.

Celestions weren't stock. I don't think they were a factory option either.

Most Celestions don't enhance typical clean Fender tones. But they might improve the drive channel.
-----------------------
Your question would probably have been better off as a new thread, since it's only tangentially related to this thread.
------------------------
Edited to add: most Celestions have higher resale value than Fender Special Design speakers. And there are lots of aftermarket speakers that are generally considered to be better than FSD speakers.

So if the amp is in good shape and priced reasonably, you could sell the Celestions and either put in stock-spec FSD's or upgrade with other speakers.

thanks for the info strayedstrater , you are right about the post , sorry . well the price is not so reasonable ( 700 € = 850 $ ) and there is no market here for selling just the speaker , i think that i'll be looking for another amp :-)
