My 64 princeton (non-reverb) needs a full set of tubes. Just had them tested on a tube tester. It has been sitting for 15 years in my closet. Amp is 100% original except for a re-cone. What brand should I choose for the re-tube? JJ's seem highly regarded and are reasonable in price. I might sell the amp in a few years so I want to make sure I don't put tubes in it that have a bad reputation or give it a sound that would not be right.

thanks
Dennis

JJ's are good tubes, you can use many brand.
Tung Sol are better for 12XX7 tubes, warmer than JJ's

Tube tester show tubes are bad ? Are you sure ? Amp do not work ?

Clean tube's socket with good contact cleaner like Deoxit , It is a must after so many year

Amp had real low output. I watched them test the tubes. the rectifier tube has a dark spot on it the size of a dime and many white particles on the inside. Amp has been sitting for 18 years.
I want to try deoxit but I can only find big cans of it that cost $15 which is rather crazy as I need so little of it. Can deoxit be bought in small amounts? If so, where?

Dark spot on side ; normal . White particles no ; put new tube

Deoxit is $24 in Canada. it worth the price. Some other good one is MG Chemical less expensive.
Deoxit is the best one.
You may use it to clean all of the amp's pots, from inside , not from outside

Contact cleaner sold for less ( Radio Shack) do not do the job

TAD (Tube Amp Doctor) makes a great set of 6V6s and their 12AX7's are also very good. When I retubed my '64 it is what I used and the tone is schweeeeet! For Rectifier tube I went with a NOS Mullard GZ34.

If you cant' find a good GZ34 or if they are too $$$... a nice 5U4GB will work fine, too.

You will need to check the bias of the output tubes. As with all rectifier replacements.

The 5U draws a lot more current than the GZ and can be hard on the PT. 5U PT’s are wired differently than a GZ PT.
