I have a Champ amp - don't know or care the year, probably later year, has a beat up silver face plate, has an ok but not great speaker in it. Believe the spacs are 4 Ohm output @ 5 watts. Any suggestions for a speaker/other upgrade? Primarily asking about speakers here...

Put in a 10" Mojotone? Celestion? vintage JBL or Jensen? I know most JBL's are 12", 8 ohm if I recall.

I love the classic rock sound/electric blues sound - esp Jimmy Page/Keith Richard/Mick Taylor/Stevie Ray Vaughn, so that really is my prime consideration, classic tone over volume. I have played thru vintage Jensens and like that sound, but open to anything, even a new Jensen MOD. As far as power output, maybe put in new caps? New tubes?

I know words are inexact when describing sound, but I want a fairly clean, toneful, warm sound from this amp.

I have a few nice Japanese Strats (1988 flat pickups & 1995 '62 reissue w staggared pole pickups) and a guitar w Gibson Les Paul pickups for this.

Any suggestions? Please?Thanks

I ENDED UP REPLACING THE SPEAKER WITH AN ITALIAN JENSEN, HARD WIRED IT IN, LOOKS VINTAGE, CORRECT, AND SOUNDS GREAT. I THINK A WEBER WOULD HAVE BEEN MY OTHER OTHER POSSIBLE CHOICE. THANKS FOR YORU POSTS! Ii APPRECAITE IT

I like the Weber Signature Alnico series....consider it if you decide you don't like the Jensen. ;-)
