I have a '77 Vibrolux that has been re-capped by a renowned tech, now and then it will just cut-out when powered up. It goes silent, as if there is no instrument input. All tubes are lit (glowing as normal) switches and pots have no effect on this condition. Sometimes it will return to normal right away, other times it will not. Any guidance toward diagnosis is greatly appreciated.

Maybe, check and clean are your connections. INPUT and SPEAKER. You may need to replace worn ones.

Good luck!

The nature of the signal loss is significant. Does it fade out and back in?
Does it come back with a pop?
Try different cables and speakers.
Tighten the jack nuts on input ans speakers.
If you catch it happening, wiggle cables and tap the preamp tubes

Be nice if the OP gets back to us, about fixing this problem. I learn a lot about specific issues and cures from these sort of websites. Sometimes more, than years of fiddling with amps.

Well, I hope he worked it out.
