I have a 96? Twin I've owned for 20yrs. It sounds fantastic but is just too powerful doesn't have tremolo and too new for my liking.

So thought about breaking it up or getting a smaller combo more suited to small pubs bars and easier to get transport.

Then my brother found a 1968 Pro Reverb chassis that's been black faced so bought it as it ticks all the boxes - will be here in a week or so.

The idea was to use the twins speakers and possibly the cabinet - job done, but the twin cabinet apparently is different dimensions.

As I don't have the chassis yet does anyone know the dimensions for the 68?

Custom build or modify the twin cabinet?

Looks like you're plan of swapping chassis into the Twin Cab is not going to work.

Dimensions for the Pro Reverb: 68-69: 19½” x 26½” x 10”, 70-82: 19½” x 26” x 10½”

Dimensions for the 96 Twin: 20 x 26¼ x 11½.

Ampwares contains LOTS of great info...here is the link.

I'd wait until I had the chassis in my possession before ordering anything. Take the measurements yourself and build it or order a cab or head with what you know for sure.

while a 2x12 may seem ideal, a 1x15 would be slightly lighter and not much less powerful.
