Friend sent me the CD of Byrds Live At Stockholm. We were discussing McGuinn's guitars and techniques/tones form his Rik.

Anyhow, saw this YT video. I noticed David Crosby and Chris Hillman seem to be using blackface Dual Showman heads and cabs. And Roger McGuinn is playing through a silverface DS (?). But, no reverb in any of the amps.

Their tunes seem to have reverb and tremolo. Wonder if stand alone reverb units were used? Video was prolly done mid to late 1960s.

Thanks!

that was a cool find. Regarding the reverb, perhaps they opted to go dry when playing live. A lot of rooms have plenty of natural reverb, and that looks like a pretty big sound stage. His Rik sounds great as always on this recording.

All of the amps are blackface pre-1967 Showman models. The word "DUAL" was not added to the front panel until early 1967, with the advent of the larger (29½" x 45" x 11½"), vertically-oriented speaker enclosure.

indeed, "The Big T.N.T. Show" was recorded before a live audience on November 29, 1965.
