OK, it's 100% done.

    Amp recapped & refreshed.
NOS tubes and rebias to reasonable level
    Custom Armadillo Amp Works Cabinet
12" Ted Weber Alnico 3.2 ohm
    Blackface Conversion

This looks and sounds killer. This is probably my favorite project I've done in a long time!

One suggestion......you might try a flat logo (brownface era) in lieu of the blackface style.

Will you stop it already? :P but just for reference, the current logo has 3 screw holes, the brownface I think has four? Do the three on the later style match up exactly with the hole locations of the later style?

No they don't (none of them). But correctly positioned, the flat logo will conceal the previous three holes.

Just sayin'......

Brownface faceplate, too? I know that is asking a lot.

Blackface faceplate does look a lot better on your Champ. :)

The black face plate did it! Beautiful! Very nicely thought out and done!

OK, that's it. No more changes after this. Probably. Maybe? I got a brown flat logo. I was able to mostly cover the other holes, and the grille cloth wasn't really damaged from the screws, so I was able to use a pick and move the threads back into place to 'heal' the fabric.

Awesome! Like it should have come from the factory, that way. Now, play the crazy thing and get some patina!

What guitars you gonna play through it? Seems a Paul with P90s would be nice.

I've never been a Les Paul fan. Had one for a while, just never warmed up to it. It's heavy, they don't 'feel' right to me, not comfortable to sit and play.

No doubt that it's not as ergonometrically friendly as a Strat but LP's are rumored to have some awesome tones. At least that's the assertion of Jimmy Page, Leslie West, Martin Barre, Billy Gibbons, and a few other guys who think they know what they're talking about.

I'm not a 'Paul hater. It just doesn't work for me. I even let my thinline tele go cause I didn't like the balance of that either. When you get right down to it, it's simple: My only amp is a Fender Champ. I haven't played publicly since college - that's a long time ago. These days it's just me, some strat-o-ma-casters and a Trio Plus. To paraphrase Rick Nelson, 'can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself'. And I'm pretty pleased currently!
