So I got in a Bassman head & 2X12 cab. The customer wants an amp mod for speaker breakup at a lower volume.
But before he gets ahead of himself, the vintage Jensen P12N has a voice coil that came loose from the cone.
The other Fender ceramic speaker sounds ok.
Rather than mess with the amp, are there some speaker recommendations that would accomplish the early breakup he is looking for?

You could install a pair of "Jensini" C12R's.

At full volume they'll probably last about ten minutes.

Well, this guy plays soft Italian love songs.
I was thinking of a C12r, but wasn't sure about power handling myself.
But when I look at the C12Q, it says not recommended for bass. He does want to use it for that occasionally.
The C12K seems like overkill, power-wise.
But both those speakers have greater sensitivity and I would expect them to break up sooner. That's what he's looking for.
I'll see how much money he has and how much weight he wants to carry around.

Bass guitar is a whole 'nother ball game. In that case, take a look at what Eminence has to offer. Electro-Voice also has some pretty capable LF drivers.

Awesome! I guess...

Sounds like an alnico kind of guy. He play a hollow-body axe? Ala Gibson ES-175?

Thanks.
