Hey Guys,

Time to consolidate my Amp collection... The Condo keeps getting smaller...

I've decided to keep one of my vintage VCs and my '73 PR

That means I'll be selling my '67 Blackface Deluxe (one of the last 300 Blackface built... EVER!) - 9.5/10, and one of my two Vibro Champs - both 9.5/10.

But I cannot decide which of the VCs to keep.

Help me decide.. Pleeze !!

Also, luv to hear some suggestions of places to put them on... Ebay, Reverb, etc.

Tone-wise, which one is better?

Bolt them together and keep the one.

On a more serious note, keep the one you like most.

That's a tough question...

They both sound GREAT !!

The Drip-edge has the stock factory speaker while the Blackface has the correct impedence, date-code correct Jensen upgrade. I also did a capcan replacement and any out-of-spec resisters were replaced w/ 5-band Mil-spec ones of the same value on both.

I'd say the '65 is a little 'fuller' while the '68 seems a bit 'tighter'. I actually like both their tone equally.

I guess I'm also looking at which will become more valuable in time both monetarily, and as a part of a collection.

If I sell the '65, I'll no longer own any Blackface amps and will have two Silverfaces (VC and PR).

cheers!

That's a quandary everyone wants to have.

For only that reason, sell the 68 at least you'll have other SF amps to admire and enjoy.

I would try craigslist/local shops first if I were selling then ebay/reverb if I didn't have immediate interest. Although selling to local shop might require leaving a little meat on the bone, if you do other business w/ them it's always good leverage.

PS: both are looking very fine, GL.

I would sell everything else and keep the deluxe. 8)

If you are bent on selling the deluxe  keep the bf vc.

My experience,

Local CL - people want music gear at rummage sale prices.

eBay - the best coverage but at 10% final value

Reverb - decent coverage with 3.5 % final value

If you're in MN Dave's Guitar in La Crosse WI may be worth a look, horse trade for a guitar, etc. you've wanted.

My vote keep the 65, you can always find a SFVC much cheaper than the 65 even though technically they are the same amp, if were to regret selling it, and besides in my opinion the BF looks cooler. On the other hand you can get more money for the 65 and technically they are the same amp
good luck.. You could try consignment at the local shop if there is one close by

Any local store will exact a pound of flesh to facilitate a consignment sale, generally fifteen to twenty percent.

I guess it depends on the store and your relationship with them. Our locals are pretty fair as they do hope vintage items will bring customers in to there shops

True perhaps but I wouldn't count on them to give away money.

Any thought about keeping the Deluxe and maybe trading one of the VC for a stand alone reverb and then selling the PR and the other VC? The Deluxe being one of the last made will certainly retain/increase in value faster than the PR/VC's. Just a thought.

Good luck with this tuff decision.
