I haven't posted much here for a while, so I thought I'd share my last years project. I never owned a 5E3, so I built one, using a Tube Depot PC board. I found that the board was dual trace, and had to go back and solder the top of the components, as well as the bottom. The cab is from Rawcabs, (on the bay), there isn't a knot in it! We can't get wood like that where I live! My only complaint to him was he didn't build it for Tolex clearance, (he told me to ask next time!) I did add a switchable "fixed" bias, and switchable NFB. It is really a lot louder than I was expecting, but sounds great!

I'll bet it sounds ballsy as hell with that JBL D120F!

It does!
My friend Russell keeps showing up at my house to play through it. I guess when I get a little more flush, I'll have to build him one! (He gets a Weber JBL clone though!)

You could always find him a teal-basket P12Q. Vintage Jensens and 5E3's were made for each other.

Very nice job on your Deluxe. I always wondered what that particular color on the chassis would look like in a completed amp. Great color choices for contrast.

Nice touches for sure, especially like the blonde/brown/wheat cabinet w/ that chassis. Well Done.

Very nicely done! I like that color, for the chassis. Is it powder paint? Did you DIY the lettering?

Great layout and soldering, too!

:D

Thank you all!
I found the chassis on the bay, and decided it would make a "different" color scheme work. It is powder coated, (seems they have a few different colors), my complaint is the "standby" lettering is backward!
Also I really tried to find a fuse holder in ivory, I guess they just don't make them.

I suppose you could reverse the connections on the standby switch. So, it is activated when switch is in down position.

AFAIK, all Bakelite plastic fuse holders are black. Never seen one in any other color.

I debated rotating the standby switch, but then it would just be weird having the switches pointing in different directions when "on"!

Don't go anal on us......I think it's perfect just as it is.
