Stratele, do you have a photo of that transformer? Not familiar with EIA = 201 (Hammarlund, Shortwave transformers?).

Thanks!

No photo available now. it have a standard shape like we see in most audio or guitar amp amps, nothing special.
It comme from a old ( 1970) Marsland PA driving by 2 EL34

I use same power transformer to build a Marshall head with reverb a la Fender, "my" own desing. Work great.

It looks like you have mastered the art as Leo passed down to us.

Now I am going to invite you to think outside the box

I built this back in 2004 when I was getting acquainted with guitar amps.
It has reverb, distortion, and a switchable tone stack
It has a Fender preamp and a Marshall power stage with the CMOS effects in between.
It was as much an exercise in design as anything. It has a bit of hum due to the cabling between top and bottom, but overall, it is a successful project.
I’ll bet you could build something that is much prettier.

These are the same transformer I use for a "Marshall" amp I built with reverb Fender copy.
The 2 power transformers have same number ; R21082B
Same for output transformer ; R20141D.
They could be made by Hammond, a Canadian company like Marsland, the manufactured of these PA

TimAudio,
I read inductance at secondary of the output xfrs ; 16.4 H
Primary ; 4.9 H

Your opinion ?

By the pics and inductance, you've got a Hi-Fi transformer there, my friend.
Expect lots of bass and better treble response. Overall, it gives a better power transfer and efficiency with high inductance.
The resistance of the primaries is a controlling factor in power output as well. Large cores can accomodate larger wire with lower resistance.
However, they do not saturate well and overdriven sound may suffer from too much bass.

Hi,
I want to built a Fender amp from scratch.
I think a amp with reverb is the best choice. I'm thinking of a Super Reverb AB763
I have lots of parts, transformers, caps......waiting for.

I built few amps from scratch over years.

The only question is wich one ?

Very cool I want to stick around for this and watch this build, very intriguing. Can't offer much help but I will learn somethings

Thank's for your feedback.
The photo show a Marshall amp I copy the schematic, the 50 watts Master Model no 2204.
It use same transformers I'll use for my next project.

And Ii have not much bass, more trebly and mid. It sound very close to a Marshall, ( with no A/B test done ) overdrive is good too...

If I was a tubes amp guys few years before, I may have 40 kits of these transformers for free
