Does anyone think it is possible to blow the pre-amp side of a brand new hot rod deluxe tweed, by turning the drive control to 12, master volume on 1, and turning the fishman transducers on 10 on a nashville power tele?
It lasted about 12 seconds, and then - no output. The main power amp is still ok, as that was checked by plugging in a pre-amp into the power amp in socket. It seems the pre-amp side has just died.
Worst of all, the guitar and amp are both brand new, and have done about 20 minutes work.
Worse again, it seems no-one is interested in Warranty.
Anyone got any ideas????

Seems to me, the warranty should take effect if it's a new rig. I bought mine used, and aside from the springs in the reverb tank breaking, I've had no trouble with it. (love it, in fact)

Not a fuse, the amp still has power to the power amp and eq stage, etc. I have looked a bit further, and it seems like the pre-amp valve or maybe the current limiting resistor in the power supply. There is apparently no warranty (still chasing it) because I live in Australia and I bought the amp in California. Go figure.
I thought these things would have been bulletproof.
I'm tempted to find a music store that has the hot rod deluxe, and a nahville power tele in store, and see if I can duplicate the fault. Maybe it's not a happy guitar / amp marriage???

do you have any resolution on this yet? Hate to say it but Fender SHOULD honor the effing warrenty, regardless of where purchased. I'd be livid if they did this bullshit to me, especially with a new amp. A new amp should be able to handle all kinds of input WITHOUT FAIL. Please post any updates. Really interested in this, and again, hate to say it, but this one incident makes me want to NOT buy a new fender amp! EVER! You know, I can get a Laney, Marshall or Vox anywhere, and I WILL vote with my feet and my dollars if a manufacturer fails to provide good support.

Check the valves. You probably ended up with a bad one (or more), or one (or more) was broken during some transportation. The smaller ones are the ones that are part of the preamp. See if all of them light up when you turn on the amp. If one (or more) doesn't, that's your problem. If that is the problem, I don't think it is covered under warranty because valves are so fragile and easily replaceable.

Thanks for the replies.
Turns out it is the preamp drive valve. They all glow with power, but all I did was swap the first two valves around, and I got the amp to work on the "clean" side. The drive channel doesn't do anything at all.
I am not sure if the first valve, or preamp valve is actually different. All three 12AX7A's are Sovtec WC's, but the preamp one that failed has Fender GT Logos all over it. I will email Fender for the fourth time and ask them if there is any difference. I am not holding my breath for a reply.....Pretty pathetic, really. Especially when the email address is 'consumer relations'. Anyway, you get that with big companies apparently.

There's no difference. A 12AX7 is a 12AX7. Some have Fender logos, some have Groove Tubes logos. They're all the same.

Letters at the end of a tube's type (like the last "A" in 12AX7A or the "GB" in 5U4GB) usually indicate what type of inclosure the tube is in (ie metal, glass, etc.). The insides of tubes with different ending letters are basically the same.
