If you have 34 minutes to spare.... this is really interesting. Plus he is squeezing all of that tone playing directly into a 1970's silverface Fender Champ.

Lots of discussion about Fender (and others) amps.
His current rig is a pair of tweed Twins and a pair of tweed Bassmans.

Thanks, great video, I like to put my 76' Champ up against my bedroom wall with a reverb unit out in front, sounds really nice, and big.

Very nice and informative I do like the way Joe plays, he is good, and that champ must not have it original speaker, seem like the bass is much more responsive than the fender speakers are, unless of course the bathroom is responsible for the depth and it could be
mud

Just love how a LP makes those Champs just come to life! Such an organic breakup.
Would have to also wonder if it is the original speaker as well?
I had to get a LP to play through my 65BF Champ for that breakup (no pedals) sound. I also pump the Champ through a 2x12 Celestion cab with 25watt greenbacks. amazing diverse tones.

BTW- the champ is modified from original. The output transformer was fried and I wanted to get a touch more out of it. New larger OT (from the same era) and 6L6 with all the appropriate modifications). Just in case anyone was wondering why the 2x25 cabinet.
