Thought for a moment it was a 1964, but the chassis and date stamp point to February 1965.

Super clean shape, sounded great even with a Jensen Mod speaker. Last owner kept the original Oxford, which I will be reinstalling ASAP as it looks to be in fantastic shape. They even kept the original 2 prong plug that was replaced. When I get a chance for some gut shots, I'll update my album.

Clean!

I'm betting that all of the iron, pots, caps, etc will be stamped with 1964 (ie: pre-CBS) date codes. Note the FEIC front panel.

Very nice!

Just hooked up the Oxford speaker, and it sounds fantastic. The speaker uses an RCA jack, I was not expecting that so I had to solder it to the original wiring harness. The wire used for the harness matches the 1964 Deluxe Reverb I have as well. Chassis is a 65, iron and speaker are 1964. Pots appear to be Stackpole 1965. One changed cap, 3 prong plug added. Crazy clean except for the 50+ years of dust in the cabinet. : )

+1

When cleaning up the cabinet of my '65 Princeton Reverb shortly after acquisition, I found a 1964 "Mercury" dime (worth about thirteen bucks), several kep nuts (the original speaker had been replaced), and a matchbook cover from a strip club in Portland (the first owner was from Oregon). All of it was concealed beneath the reverb tank.

Arjay.

Excuse the amateur playing! Amp just sings. Oxford speaker has less power than the Jensen Mod but sweeter tone. Lots of treble and bass on tap for such a small amp. I did put in some older tubes. It came with a RCA 6V6 in the parts box holding the original speaker so I put that back in, RCA 5Y3 and a Tung Sol 12AX7 (late 50s?).

Thinking this is the perfect bedroom practice amp right now!

Indeed!

Much more sensible than trying to strangle a Supersonic 60 or a TRRI with a costly attenuator.

Sorry, missed the previous post on the Oxford speaker and tone. The YT video has the sound just like most of the BE and SF Champs and VC that I am familiar with. This is a great indoor amp. And they last ten times longer than most practice amps, built today.

Those old tubes may go on forever. The RCA are the standard for those types, in those days. And the Tungsol (USA) 12AX7 tubes are usually built to, or selected for, military specs. As are most Raytheon tubes (FWIW).

Good luck. Great find!

I'd say thirty.

Or forty.

Considering its survived 50 plus years in nearly mint condition, I would say it has more than a few years left in her. Tone is incredible. The natural overdrive is fantastic.

For a real sonic treat, disconnect the internal speaker and wire the amp up to a larger 4-ohm enclosure such as a Bassman, Bandmaster, or Dual Showman. That 6-watt amp will then sound mighty impressive.

Thanks for sharing the clip and Happy new amp day!

The only thing missing from the video was you cranking it.
(This one goes to 12?)
