Great info but I wish he'd chosen a dual-triode for the phase-inverter demonstration. With a dual-trace oscilloscope, both sine waves would've been simultaneously visible for comparison.

Great video.

That's why I mentioned the dual-trace scope.

He has other YT tutorials. Maybe, one on other types of phase inverter circuits --- need to check. His one on polarity of coupling cap is interesting.

Appreciate the link. I enjoyed the vtvm rebuild video and the dirty secrets video(standby switch?)..

Not really conventional standby switch (which switches B+ onto anode plates). Really a delay for the heater lines to prevent high current surge. Even if your tubes didn't "flash" when first turned on, a heater line delay would be nice.

After a very good video on tubes amps

Look what I found;

Are Your Capacitors Installed Backwards? Build this and find out

That is a very neat tip on checking the polarity of capacitors.

Does the polarity really make that much of a difference?

I just starting building a scratch build of a 6G6B Bassman and that will come in handy.

What do you think......?

:lol:

Tone and coupling caps aren't nearly as critical from the aspect of polarity but if you reverse an electrolytic in your filter array or bias supply, you'll be swabbing spooge off of the chassis for days.

I should have been more specific.

I was wondering if the polarity on tone caps made much difference with noise.
I have in haste installed an Electrolytic backwards. It usually only takes one time.
