I tried searching the forum for a quick drawing of the 3 prong power cord installation. Didn't find anything. Googled it and found way too much info.

Anyway, I have a 65 bandmaster and I attached a photo of the installation I did last night. I haven't fired it up yet as I'd like some reassurance that my work will be approved.

All I did was disconnect the 2 prong cord and resolder it to the back of the outlet where the white & black leads were previously. Then I attached a round terminal and tightened it up under one of the tranny lugs.

There was a lot of talk about a death cap and a whole bunch of other complicated things that seemed like it was over the top.
Have I over-simplified this process or am I ok to fire it up and jam out?

Thanks in advance.

Your work is sound......fire it up and see if it passes the "smoke test".

Looks like you need a grommet between the chassis and cord to prevent cutting the cord/grounding via movement.
Looks like its already cut slightly...using my good eye.

Correct -- a new properly-sized strain relief should be installed.

Here is one diagram I found on the Net. Note how the hot (or black line) is now going to the fuse? I've converted many Fender amps which had the neutral (or white line) fused.

Yeah, that's the schematic I saw but I opted for a simpler fix.
Do I need to be concerned about the "Death Cap"?

On another note, It did quiet down some of the noise I had but now I think I need to look at one of my guitars for a possible bad ground as it's pretty noisy until I touch the volume & tone pot knobs (metal, precision type).

Stopping today for a properly sized strain relief.
Thanks for the advice as always.

If you bypassed the ground switch, you don't need to remove the "death cap." It will already be out of the circuit.

If you've correctly bypassed the now-unneeded polarity (ie: ground) switch, that takes the "death cap" completely out of the circuit. It can be left in situ or removed as you prefer.
