I'm trying to find out what I have. Says "Champ-Amp" on the interior label. Serial number is a handwritten "45" with what looks like a stamp next to it that reads "1K". This has to be from the 50's. Small top control panel with 2 inputs, chickenhead on/off/volume, a red light, and a 2 amp fuse holder. The wiring is cloth covered(screams vintage). 8" speaker. Tweed covering. Anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance for your help.

The "1K" you noted on the tube chart actually reads "IK", signifying an amp built in November of 1959.

1K is on tube chart? Maybe 1K = IK. Which would be November, 1959.

From Superior Music site:

Fender Tube amp codes:

1953-1970 - (look for a 2 letter code stamped on the tube chart inside the back of the amp)- the first letter is the year, and the second letter is the month. An amp stamped NA would have been made in Jan. of 1964. Here is a list of the first letter showing the year of manufacture.

These codes have nothing to do with the serial number that is stamped on the right rear of the chassis - Those numbers are posted below.

A=1951, B=1952, C=1953, D=1954, E=1955, F=1956, G=1957, H=1958, I=1959, J=1960,
K=1961, L=1962, M=1963, N=1964, O=1965, P=1966, Q=1967

A=Jan, B=Feb, C=Mar, D=Apr, E=May, F=Jun, G=Jul, H=Aug, I=Sep, J=Oct, K=Nov, & L=Dec

edit: Arjay is faster on the ENTER button. :lol:

Thanks, it must be an IK then. I got this amp when my uncle passed and have used it a little just to get to know it. It's warm break up is awesome. It even has an extra bulb fastened to the rear removable panel. Thank you again for your help. :D
