I have vintage white mustang bass reissue and the neck is bent and needs to be replaced. I found a instrument store that has an authentic Fender neck that I can use to replace mine. However, their asking $380.00 for it. My question is does this sound like a fair price or very high? It seems high to me.

Second question, Does anyone know if Fender would have replacement necks for the mustang that they sell? I can't seem to find anything about the mustang replacement necks on Fender's site. Or does anyone know where I could find one? I could pay shipping. I found one on ebay but that price seemed high as well. Any help I could get would be great. I'm not interested in a warmoth or mighty mite neck, I'd rather have an authentic Fender neck.

I see a few on eBay going from between 300-400 with shipping but I put in "fender mustang bass reissue neck" to get more then one to show up.

As high as that price may sound, it unfortunately seems in line with others I've seen.

And seems you're experiencing the awkward fact that we short scale owners have a difficult time getting parts, or even information sometimes.

The Stratosphere has a Pawn Shop neck with tuners for $359. Maybe they would sell just the neck? As much as I dislike their business model, they usually have something, but today, just that one item.

I would love to have a maple neck on my Musicmaster. Since the rebuilt paint I do have the 2nd body, I could almost put the original back together with all the orig parts and have a hybrid short scale with a maple neck, which I'd prefer.

I'm just cheap, $350/approx. seems like a lot.

If this old brain properly recalls your son's original artwork finish on the MM, maple would look pretty darn cool.

Yes, your recall is correct, I think it would look very nice with that paint job. Besides the fact that I just like them.

Now if I wasn't so cheap :D
