I won't have a chance to try one out for a while, and I've never had my hands on the MIJ version. Bassists have been waiting for an American Standard PJ.

I hope Fender puts out a mim Standard version without all the switches. That's the one I'll most likely purchase.

They did a Squier variant without the switches if you're interested. Sorry if this bass sports an active low frequency booster.

For a totally straightforward passive Jag Bass Fender offers a Chinese Modern Player model with an unbound maple neck featuring black rectangular inlays.

The American Standard Jaguar Bass retains all the features of the original Jag Bass but incorporates a host of juicy refinements - from the posiflex graphite neck reinforcements to the "stealth" StrongArm retainer bar for the A string. Available in black, 3-colour sunburst, olympic white and mystic red.

Just the thought of a Fender PJ bass with a downsized body/Jazz profile neck gets my attention.

I guess I was sleeping when they announced this USA build. How long has it been out?

I can't stop looking at the white one on the main page.

Brad has not yet posted an official announcement for the USA Jag Bass. Stay tuned!

Does anyone know how American standard "beats" the Japanese Jaguar?

I have seen and played the CIJ Jaguar - it is pretty good. Looking at the Am Std specs, I am struggling to see where the extra $$$ are justified.
