This is a new product to me, and I really like them.

http://www.fender.com/guitar-bass-parts/strap-locks-buttons/fender-strap-blocks-2-pair/?#reviews:new

Try as I might, Fender.com will not let me post a product review. Meh. :|

These are rubber washers that tightly fit over top of your strap on your basses strap buttons. They are quite difficult to put on. I'm going to bet they are the very devil to take off. One's thing is for sure, and that is your strap is going to stay ON! 8)

They are very inexpensive too, $4 for two pair: 1 red, and 1 black.

I've seen similar strap retainers on display counters in a SA. I think they were Dunlop brand.

Lots of people use the rubber washers off some brands of beer that has different style of cap.
I forget the name, they don't sell it around here, as far as I know.
But does the same thing.

I use the Dunlop ones mentioned above.

They're on my bass which is currently beside me, I was playing it earlier.

These are better than Dunlop because they have 'Fender' embossed on them.

Or you could just get Italia straps made for all your instruments and not have to worry about strap locks or blocks or beer caps. That is my personal solution.

I have a Levy's strap for each of mine, maybe it's a little costly but they all are unique.

I meant to buy one last time Dave mentioned there was a sale, just to try it out, but missed the sale through my own fault. Won't miss the next one, assuming BD mentions it again.

I use EB strap locks on the basses I gig with. I use straps that can effect the finish after 24 hours.....so what do they do in the meantime? Would be nice to remove both issues.

I think the last time BD mentioned it, it was a buy one get one free situation, at around $75. Sound right?

But one for each bass? Not unless Santa is very good to me.

I'm on the frugal side. i buy on sale and, or if i get a great buy, well, most of the time. Only having five instruments justified, in my twisted thinking, having straps on eah.

And, it was a fairly cheap way to relieve G.A.S. attacks. :D

Affprod would max out his black American Express card buying straps for each! LOL.
They did the buy one get one free again LAST WEEK but it was a private sale for existing customers. Levys make good straps but Italia are without a doubt the best strap around. You can pay $500 for a custom strap elsewhere and it will be no better than your basic Italia strap which run about 70 to 85 depending on width and length. They just don't make one that matches Fiesta Red. Bummer.

BD, you sure hit that nail on the head...Go Santa Claus! If you happen to get a notice of a sale, I would sure appreciate a heads up. I am trimming the heard, but I am also adding instruments I would prefer not to put a strap lock on. Thanks.

@Affprod, You need to get on their mailing list. I just got another email from them but it is a private buy two at a special price offer for existing customers. 2.5" width straps are 2 for $58. 4.0" width straps are 2 for $68. The color selection is sort of limited though, but a good time to get basic colors.
