I just received my American Standard Jazz Bass, and at risk of completely embarrassing myself, I do not know which way the strap goes on. Does the end with the two laces attach to the strap button by the neck or the one by the bridge? Thank-you.

Hi and welcome. Just take the lace off. The lace is for using that strap with an acoustic guitar which does not have a second strap button. With only one strap button you would tie the string onto the headstock of the acoustic. I usually attach the single layered part to the upper bout strap button (closest to the neck) and the doubled over part on the bottom strap button nearest the bridge. I don't know why I do it that way. Just always have. It looks cooler that way maybe? LOL!

I no longer use bass straps with buckles at all though.
