You know that one bass you had, the one that felt good hanging over your shoulder prefect fit in your hand ,great pickups, and the history. All the shows, the stale beer smell from that guiness that jerk through on her,the beating I took when it happened.I let my fender jazz go to the music store and give her up for flare, active pickups ,and a extra string. I hate myself. To top it all off ,Im a lefty damned south paw.Its hard to find THAT prefect bass. Its been 6 years now,and my search goes on for that one bass. So I say to you friends dont let her go.

 The left-handed American Standards are GREAT! I am extremely pleased with my 2012 lefty jazz. A truely fabulous bass that I highly recommend.

Wow man- I think I know how he feels. I'd be bummed too. You only ever need just one nice Fender bass that sounds and feels great. I am so glad I didn't sell my 74 P bass. I would hate myself now. I put it away for 18 years (it's 2014 almost so I added a year- nice)and I started using it again a week or so ago. It sounds even better now than it did... I think. It could have sounded really great 18 years ago but I may have been a bit foggy then and didn't notice it. So it could sound just as great now . Either way it is good. I hope he finds that bass. 8)

I've sold too many basses that I shouldn't have over the years. Not any more.

I can relate. I've whined and cried about this too many times to re-live it again. My current solution is, keep them all.

I agree completely. Don't let them go.

Money is no match for the fun and pleasure of owning and playing that perfect Fender bass!

I love all of mine and they don't all get used the same amount but I still want to go back to the ones that I am saving for posterity and play them when I feel like it!

My best basses are not my most valuable basses....so there is something there, too. In recent years there are only two basses I regret selling...but not to the point of OMG. I sold one of my 72 Teles that had an extraordinary sound, and a 2010 MIA Jazz that was better than average, and drop dead gorgeous. But I am bass blessed, so no complaints. Still, I think about them and wish I had done otherwise.

Stroker, I gotta ask, is your 74P Natural as well? Could we have twins again, both 72J and 74P?

No my 74 is Surf Green (refin 1996,). I also refinned it in 1979- so I refinned a refin.

Now.. My 68 Tele bass that I miss real bad was Natural. That was because someone stripped the "Blue Flower" finish . I was dumb to sell the 68. I really didn't have to. Slap me now.

Everyone = Line up for a slapping. You know you deserve it for selling that killer old bass.

I will try my best to NEVER sell my 74 P, my 72 J, my 83 P, or any guitar that I really like. There..I've testified in public.
