Do you consider yourself a bass player first and foremost ? Do you play 6 string guitar?

What kind of regular 6 string guitars do you own and play? Why that kind and model?
Do you have a guitar amp? :)

I am a bassist first. It is the instrument that I have put considerable time and effort into over 44 years. I played 6 string for 4 years before switching full time to bass. I never owned an electric 6 string until 3 years ago. It was an Ibanez Artcore. Turned out to be a gateway drug.

I am an entertainer as well as a bass player. When attempting to sing and entertain solo, the 6 string has proved handy.

My next guitar was a 2011 LP Studio. That led to a 2011 Amer. Standard Tele. A Modern player Jag with P-90's.

I have a few amps. The Bugera V5 is my only non Fender. The rest are listed in my signature.

I'm a bassist. Sixstringers, and myself didn't get a long to well. Basses and bass gear is all I use.

Bass only, and only four strings. Anymore than that and I produce one note of total clarity, followed by several bars of confusion, and then I pass out.

My drummer wants me to get a 5-string bass. I really do not want one. I would experience what you have described.

I do not see anything but 4 strings in my future.

Tell your drummer, you'll get a five string bass, when he gets a 48 inch Zildjian Gong.

Curious feeling to have after enlightenment.
Have to chop wood and carry water now.

I consider myself primarily a guitar player, and I was a reluctant bass player at first.
I love playing chords.
I am more likely to play guitar than bass, but over the last 3-4 years I have played bass a lot more than I used to.
I have have also been incorporating more effects in my bass playing.
And when I do get to play with others I have been playing bass more often.

So while I am still primarily a guitar player, I am closer to being a guitarist/bassist than I was before-which was a guitarist who dabbled in bass or something like that.

I also had a thread on a couple of forums where I said something like, "Help! I'm becoming a bass player"
With tongue in cheek of course.

I've had two five string basses, really made an effort to like them, just couldn't.

I never messed with five stringers. I didn't like the feel of the necks.
