Seems like there isn't a whole bunch of enthusiasm over this new line of basses. I would have expected much more 'buzz' on these new models. Reviews on youtube seem to be fairly positive but not overly positive.

I am in the market to get a new bass and considering one of these or possibly a Deluxe Precision...not sure still. I feel the dlx precision is a safer pick. Unfortunately I'm not where either of these basses are available to try....so I will ultimately buy online from sight only. Any thoughts/opinions on pros/cons with each model?

This comment might sound strange, but any new bass from Fender probably suffers from a lot of reputation issues to the extent that a new bass will not have any legacy, where a the other basses in the Fender family are.........realistically........beyond famous.

The Dimension basses are fantastic basses - the quality is undoubted. To buy one though, you are going against the grain of fashion (new stuff comes from MM, Ibanez etc.).

An idealist will say this reputation issue doesn't matter but the entire marketing industry is based around this issue being relevant (to any product).

Edelstone- I think I follow what you are saying and agree. Having played for so long on regular USA Fenders- it's hard to imagine going to a different bass- even if it's a new model Fender- I guess I'm getting old and just want to stick with what I know.

From the videos they sound almost identical to how my older Musicman Stingray bass sounded. Now as far as if that is a good or bad thing is totally subjective.

Haha - it is a bit of "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

Also if you turned up to a jam with a brand new Fender American Deluxe (instead of your Jazz), people would be saying "dude.....what the F@#$"?

The Dimension bass is actually very good bass...........issue being that it hasn't paid the dues that its older siblings have paid; this is a massive marketing mountain to overcome.

I hear ya loud & clear! If I could afford the many thousands of $$$$ for a Custom Shop lefty, I'd damn sure have one! And a Fender Super Bassman with 610 neo cab to go with it. :D

Fender added the Dimension Bass HH in their American Standard line with a passive Jazz Bass control layout (2 volumes, master tone) minus the fancier coil tap/split abilities you might expect from her big American Deluxe sister.

These are sexy basses.

The 3-tone is awesome - I don't naturally like the 3TS colour though this Dimension version is out of this world.

Ditto for the blue - a really nice fun colour.

I'd by one if I hadn't just bought two new basses :-)

I want to replace the 5 way toggle. It gets in the way when I play slap bass. If I'm thumb slapping on the D string, my pinky hits the toggle almost every time. I was told by Fender CS to take it to service tech, and did so; he didn't want to mess with it because a new rotary switch couldn't just be soldered in place. The wiring is comprised of connectors that are tied in to the preamp and any mistakes made could fry the board. He said he would look into getting a compatible part from Fender but has not called me back as of yet. I love the bass and would like to know if fender has a rotary switch that is compatible with the American Deluxe 4 string. It's probably not an expensive part and would make this bass a lot more playable. I wish I would have taken notice of this before I made the purchase, I would have bought a precision instead. I would like to get a wiring schematic and some support to solve this issue. Can anyone here point me in the right direction. Thanks for the help.
