Got them from AMS (my main place to shop for gear) for $34.95 and free shipping. I just have to wait to get them and I'll be back in business. I haven't used flats in many years and I think the last flats I did use were Rotosound, come to think about it.

Have you ever checked out bassstringsonline.com? Their prices are way better than what you paid.

My main bass needs to have a string change. Two year old elixirs on there right now. I think DR Strings Green is my replacement strings.

Linnin is definitely responsible for my contemplating these strings. However, he will not be held responsible if they turn out to be not to my liking. :D

Whew! That's a relief! I don't see how you wouldn't like them. Just remember that they are round core so put an acute angle to crimp the winding to the core before nipping. 8)

That is a useful tip, Linnin. Thanks.

This guy (Scott Devine) is annoying, but this is a good tutorial. From about 1:45 on ...

I like him. He's the guy who wears a glove on his fretting hand to avoid round-wound squeak. :D I have subscribed to his youtubage.

This Elixir Strings tutorial is excellent and shows the importance of 'crimping' the winding to the core and the proper technique from about 2:25 on

How in the hell does he wear a glove and still play? That seems strange to me, but then again I've never had any luck with gloves that properly fit my hand. Usually the fingers are too short on them.

I will, simply because you said not to! :P Actually, what do you expect from someone that's wearing an Aerosmith T-Shirt. :P But seriously, lifting and yanking your bass by the strings like he is cannot be too healthy for it. When I change my strings every 100 years or so (obvious exaggeration, but you get the point,) I'll stretch them a little bit around the 12th fret after tuning for two times, but sure as hell not do anything like that.

Yeah, he should have also added if you throw your bass across the room, that will help it break those strings in, too. :P

A claw hammer, and a propane torch work well too on those tight new strings. If you use it as a bow with some good hunting arrows, that will do the trick also.

Or you could drag them with the bass behind a truck. That could be a new way to make the "Road Worn" series, since it definitely would be so.
