Check it out. Fender has came out with a Jaguar P/J 5 String!
I got this pic from my fb page. Bad pic. It's a sunburst finish.
Looked for in the product section here, but didn't find anything....at least not yet.

Where's the Alka-Seltzer.......I'm feeling a gas attack coming on!

Had not seen that before. Maybe it is coming to North America and maybe it won't.

Fender China and the distributor there is gearing up for some major retailing. Like Fender Japan I expect there will be Fender China models and Squier China models sold in China only, or exported to limited distributors outside China. However I don't expect to see all Fender China/Squier China offerings to make it to the USA.

If that one does make it here, it should do well. I tried a 5 string bass once but sold it off pretty quick. Funny but has anyone ever seen a 5 string ukulele or a 5 string upright bass? hmmmm.

When I saved that picture from fb I wasn't thinking about posting it on here, so I didn't save the link. I went back and searched for it on my fb page and finally found it.
I guess I was looking in the wrong section on here because they do have it listed under the Squiers. It's MSRP is $399.99, so I'm guessing you can probably pick one up for $300-$325.
They are available in 3 different finishes....Sunburst.....Black.....Crimson Red. All have rosewood fingerboards and black pg's and all 3 look pretty good to me.
http://www.fender.com/squier/series/vintage-modified/vintage-modified-jaguar-bass-v-special-rosewood-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/

Yeah I know.....I'm hooked on the 5 string basses.
I don't actually think a 5th string is better than a 4 string. Alot of great songs have been recordered with a 4 string and still are every day with alot of great bass players laying the groove down.
It certainly doesn't make me any better of bass player than someone that plays a 4 string.
I remember the first one I bought in '92. A Jazz Bass Plus. I was scared to death of it at first, but I was hearing more and more of that 5th string in the music we were playing at the time and I felt I needed one.
I can't tell you why, but I took to that bass right off. My intial fears were unfounded. The 5th string just felt natural to me and I've played one ever since.
Like I said, I don't think it makes me a better bass player than someone that plays a 4 string, however, I do think it makes me personally a better bass player.
If that makes any sense.

I've got too many basses now (4), but each one has it's purpose.

Never have considered myself a collector, but if I did, I would probably buy one of these. I would most likely go with the black simply because I don't own a black one now.

But then if I did that, I would also have to get the new P/J Deluxe in Sea Foam Green. And it's a 4 string!!!!

Maybe I will buy one :? .......right after you get that new American Standard!

There's a Vintage Modified P-Bass V which looks pretty similar to your candy cola baby! :D

The candy apple red P5 also deserves a white pearl PG :P

chromeface that one does look alot like my AM STND P5, so no need to duplicate what I have.

I do agree though, it needs a white pearloid pg.

Too many basses? If you stop, you'll have too much money and too much free time....and we all know where that can lead! Yup! Keyboards! Stay safe my friend, buy a bass.

A lesson well learned from Fenton Farnsworth!

So!

1. Did you order it?

2. What color?

3. Is the new pickguard on it's way?

4. You spelled Farnjsworth wrong, he's very sensitive about that.

My apologies to Fenton. I forgot that he changed the spelling of his name after he heard the Feds were after him in the wake of the Tucumcari, New Mexico incident of 1963.

Haven't ordered the Jaguar.....still awaiting word on your new American Standard.

Knowing that you are a huge fan of five strings, Fenton convinced fender to make a special one just for guys like you.

Uh, I was the last one to buy a new bass, Bebe, and right around what you'll spend for the new Jag!

We 5 stringers owe alot to Fenton. Of course if he had his way we would be playing 4 1/2 string basses..... :? ......think 5 string banjo......

Anyway, I would have to try one of the Jaguars before I would buy. There is a Fender dealer about 35 miles north of here that stocks a few Squiers. I'll check in with them every now and then to see if they get one in.

If they sound or play close to the PJ Deluxe I checked out at GC a few weeks back....it would be hard not to buy one.

The Jag has an active bass boost circuit, a feature the Deluxe PJ lacks off.

Sadly, no 5-string version for the single-humbucker Jag.
