Cool looking. Glad to hear Fender is reviving the Dimension model again. This is a completely and totally different instrument than the Dimension IV and Dimension V. Looks passive. Love the idea of another 2 control model.

Here's the old discontinued Dimension IV:

Image

Specs for it were:
Features:

Body: Alder
Neck: Maple Light Tint (Satin Urethane)
Fingerboard: Pao Ferro (12” Radius)
No. of Frets: 24 Medium Jumbo Frets
Scale Length: 34” (864 mm)
Width @ Nut: 1.56"

Hardware: Chrome and Satin Chrome Bridge: 4-Saddle Convertible Bridge

Pickups: 1 Solid Cover Deluxe P Bass® & 1 Solid Cover Vintage Noiseless Jazz Bass® Pickup

Controls: Master Volume, Pan Pot, 3-Band Active EQ with: Treble Boost/Cut 100k, Mid Boost/Cut 100k, Bass Boost/Cut 100k

Colors: Black (306), Amber (320), Pewter (343), Sienna Sunburst (347)

FUNNY Pit, but I can't find info about this new Dimension model beyond your photo! I want the Cabronita and possibly now the new Dimension too! Simple Fender instruments are the best for me.

The Modern Player product page has not been updated yet.

Included in that series are (apart the aforementioned Dimension Bass) a 5-string Jazz Bass, a souped-up Strat with HSH pickups and a solid mahogany body, a Jazzmaster HH with simplified controls and a Mustang with two Modern Player P90s.

We'll expect having an announcement from Brad concerning this new breed of Modern Player guitars and basses soon.

The basses have nice bridges on them. Apart from that there is nothing too spectacular among the new additions.

This Modern Player Jazz Bass has lots of Roscoe Beck vibe! :P

The latest incarnation of the Modern Player Jazz incorporates a special 4-way rotary knob allowing a wide array of wiring combinations, a feature the previous models lacked off.

With this rotary knob it's now possible to split/tap the Modern Player humbuckers.

...which are very similar to the Gotoh bridge used on the now-discontinued RB5.

I just bought a Modern Player Jazzmaster HH. I love it! after a quick setup it plays and sounds like a dream. Mine has a QUARTERSAWN NECK! I am very impressed. I wasn't expecting this guitar to be nearly as nice as it is, old habit I guess. This Jazzmaster surpassed ALL my preconceived notions about Chinese made guitars.

I made this demo with it the day I bought it.

It looks like the new Fender products from Asia ( and Squier) are available in Europe before they are in the USA.

It so strange that it's only mentioned on store websites and not on the Fender site. I wonder if it is on international Fender sites? Although, other than Japan, it seems the international ones (from when I've looked) are the same, sans languages.

One explanation is the products page takes a lot of time to be updated.

We expect an announcement from Brad about the new Modern Players soon, so stay tuned.

I like the new Roscoe Beck-style switching on the Modern Player Jazzes, even in a different form and without the tone shaping capacitor. :P

This guitar compliments the matching Jaguar Bass to perfection!

There are master volume and tone knobs except the tone knob adds a special push-pull pot for series/parallel/out-of-phase sounds.

Pushed down, it acts like a normal tone control. Pulled up, it works like a 5-way rotary switch.

A couple three years back, I had a Classic Vibe 60's Jazz with a very heavily flamed/figured quartersawn neck. The thing was ruler straight. Very stable. I believe the CV's and Modern Player's are made by the same factory, right??
