My friends and I were helping one of our other friend get a 2002 Fender Jazz. To make a long Story short the original owner said it was a "vintage because it was made in 2002. So that leads to my question how old does something have to be to be considered vintage?

yeah i would have to say 25+ years old would be considered vintage but i do agree with everything posted above except for that really dumb guy that said an 02 Jazz was vintage cause i have an 02 Jazz myself and its not vintage.

well in that case my bass is 1 year vintagier! :D

i agree pretty much 20-25 yrs. so 2008-20= 1988 (or 1983) would be this years new vintage.

I agree...25 years = vintage. Just like cars. I have a few vintage guitars, and love them as I do new ones. Old guitars just have a little more......something........hard to put a finger on........appeal?

I think the general rule with old guitars becomming "vintage" is whether or not they're antiques. An antique is generally considered to be 25 years old, I believe. But I'll confirm.
