The reason I own it is Fender never made one.

Washburn is correct, Status is not.

I guess I shouldn't have strayed from Fender, as it appears this one remains a mystery. Fender never made an 8 string, octave bass, which this is. Dalembic was correct that it was made by Washburn. It is a Custom Shop XB928 Artist Series 8 String.

It is fun to play but a bit rough on the fingers. Probably a bit easier on pic players. I find the sound unique and always think of the Byrds when I pull it out, but there is a reason Fender never made one. I truly do not see a practical application for it - as much fun as it can be.

I will stick to Fender when round four appears.
