This topic is carried over from another thread that re-introduced Fenton to the Fender community. I'm certain there will be members here that will remember him, being that there are a lot of seasoned players here.

While Fenton enjoyed moderate success as a player, he almost got the job as Barry Oakley's replacement with the Allman's, but lost the address for the audition. He had an audition scheduled for the Stones gig, but forgot what state it was in. His extremely bad habit of forgetting his bass on the way to gigs didn't help.

Feel free to contribute your favorite stories, and chicken jokes, as Fenton loves chicken jokes.

After recently be seen in Tennessee with Elvis, Fenton reportedly took off south for his summer job. I am in St. Lucia at the moment, trying to track him down. (My wife thinks it is a vacation -shhhhhhh.......). I think I saw him twice yesterday. The first time he was cutting limes up for rum drinks at a tiki bar. I was going to say Hi but wanted to finish my drink first, and then decided to have another...you know how it goes. Anyway, we were still there when the entertainment started, a band called the Rum Runner's Tropical Review and Show Band. And there he was, playing a 1968 Tele-bass to a Caribbean rock/soul tune. That was the last I remember.

I woke up this morning, lifted my head off the bar, and wondered if it had all been a dream. But then I saw the stack of lime wedges in the bottom of my glass and new I had been in the presence off greatness.

Take away all the unfortunate things that marred his great career, he was, and still is, a great bassist. Next time you run into him, get him to tell you the Jay Leno story, it's hysterical.

Leaving St. Lucia tomorrow. No further sightings of Fenton. I assume he has moved on after narrowly escaping detection,.

Did run into two bassmen this week, one jazz, one soca. I think GAS might be contagious as the young soca player wants a Fender AM STD jazz really badly. I have a feeling I will see him with one next trip.

Tells me he's up for the Randy Jackson replacement judge gig on "American Idol." But you know what a big talker he is.

brotherdave!

Are you trying to tell us something? You've always got the insie track on what's new and upcoming. I agree as to his gift of gab, I question his reliability. Just ask Donald Trump.

Fenton Farnsworth reminds me of Leroy Carlszint . Just thought I'd let you know. Wait.. I meant Bangston Krueger. Fenton reminds me of Bangston Krueger not Leroy Carlzint. Carlzint plays Country and Krueger plays Country Rock and Rock. There's a big difference there. Now that I think about it , Carlszint and Bangston both remind me of Henry Applegate.

Wow, I haven't heard anyone even mention Henry Applegate in years. The last I heard of him he was going to open a Groundhog Buffet in southern West Virginia. He cooks a mean rodent!

Didn't hardly seem fair the bad rap Henry got from those interfering Hardy Boys.

True. Sometime we need to stop and remember the supergroups he was part of early on....like Four Dog Night.
