Hye,

My Dimension IV bass has stopped working (Electronics problem) and I contacted Fender as I want to get it fixed and was amazed that they have no service centres in the UK.
It is out of warranty but I think as it is an unusual model and an electronics problem it may require some specialist knowledge to fix it.
Does anyone know where I can get such a repair done in the UK (I am in Cambridgeshire)
Love the bass and will be well upset if I can't get it working again.

Feel a bit let down by Fender really and my first real guitar which I still have was a Strat (Bought in 1976). How can such a big company have no service centers in the UK?

That is good info that Stratele52 posted.

Fender (FMIC) has distributors in just about every foreign nation outside North America. These distributors are responsible for warranty service on Fender instruments exported to them and not Fender. They are almost always independent of Fender. They essentially buy the instruments from Fender and then resell them. Fender's warranty is good in the USA and Canada only.

Here is the contact info for the UK distributor:
Fender GBI
Fax: +44 1342 331 745
Email: ukqueries@fender.com

Contact them and find out where their service center is located if you want to go the Fender Authorized Service Center route. Often that will be the slowest way to go because they usually have quite a backup. Most international distributors don't have a long warranty like FMIC does, so it doesn't matter if a service tech is an "Authorized" tech or not after a year goes by. Just find the best tech you can. Sometimes these "authorized" centers will do service on several brands which compounds the wait time and frequently in the USA it is the slowest and most expensive way to get non-warranty repairs done. I would ask around locally among active musicians for a good tech. It is best to have this information before you actually need it so you can build a relationship with them in advance. Most shops that sell instruments also do minor repairs and setups. Some of these shops are better than others so be sure to ask around.

Thanks for all of the good advice. I have found two local repair guys so will give them a try as they have been recommended by my local Fender dealer.
