Yesterday I sent my 1968 Fender Mustang off to Canada, to Gord Miller. The bass sounds and plays really nice, better than my 69 actually. At some point someone did a poor refinish on it, taking it from white to competition red. The pictures actually look nice. And if you are a few feet away, it still looks nice. But if you hold it in your hands, it is not pretty. Worse, if you look at the back, you can see the tape ends and a spot where the spray can/gun, decided to blotch. Yuck!

Gord is going to do an aged Daphne Blue refinish on the body and headstock. I thought I would post a "before" picture, and, in a couple months (I hope) post the after picture.

I am really excited about this project and want to thank Brother Dave for bringing Gord to my attention.

Stay tuned!

That sounds like an awesome project. For all the little blemishes that are on mine I still love how it came out. And I figure that in a couple years if my son keeps up with airbrushing he'll just bet better and then who knows what we'll come up with.

Daphne Blue is cool and should look really nice. Are you putting the stripe on it again? I thought that the painted headstock feature is so cool, my Squier Musicmaster/Grumpy has that, in black though.

We spent about 3 months painting, sanding, painting, sanding, quite the learning process. I look forward to seeing yours when it comes back. And if I remember your other one is also red so the Daphne Blue will look great side by side with that one.

Thumbs up!

Very good memory. Yes, my 69 is also competition red. A lot of finish changes happened between 68 and 69. My 68 will revert to a 68 lacquer finish, no stripes.

Your Musicmaster is cool. If your son wants more practice, let me know and I will bring a body up to WI. Pretty talented for the first time around. I'd take a shot. You know how to contact me.

Steve

Thanx Steve, we may take you up on that. Right now he has an older Epi electric from the local music store. They've had it hanging on the wall and it's pretty beat so he gave Jordan free rein to "make it look good." And he also has a racing helmet that a friend's family wants him to restore to the orignal glory of their late father from his racing days, so some cool projects in the works right now.

Nothing yet, Brother Dave. I did get an email from Gord confirming receipt, so I know it got there in one piece. He says it is pretty hectic there but "all is good".

Had an email from Gord Miller today. He expects to get started on mine in a couple weeks, estimated shipping end of June, first part of July. Getting close...getting excited to see it.

Greeting Gang!

Traveling home today and got an exciting email from Gord Miller. My 68 Mustang is finally getting his professional treatment next week. I am getting excited as it has been there for over 6 months already and I cannot wait to see his treatment.

Stay tuned.

Steve

Got pictures of it with the color on it today, along with an invoice...lol. This is going to be sweet when it is done. Ten days and he will start sanding and aging. Not exactly sure how long that process is, but I assume it will be back to me in mid-September or so.

Getting excited to see it now.
