Hello all
First time poster here! I have had my bass since 1998, My fist bass. Learned lots with her.
Then she sat in the closet for several years, now we are dating again, Took her to the salon, and the beautician said there is a twist in the neck.
Is our relationship truly over, or can we sing in the rain once more?

Depending on the model and value it may cost more than it is worth to fix. On acoustic/electrics you can't just bolt on a replacement. Sometimes necks can be reshaped a bit with a heat press. The problem is finding a shop with one that has time to fool with it. There is that and how much it costs to have a top shelf shop do a neck repair. Shops that well equipped are busy and there will be quite a wait. Also there is no guarantee that even if you can get it fixed that it won't re-twist in a year. If it is a Guild or Martin it might be worth fixing, but otherwise maybe not.

My advice is to trade it, pawn it, give it to charity or whatever as-is and buy a new one. The Kingman is real nice. There are other nice ones out there. Most of them will cost less than repairing this one.

Wow! Brother Dave replied to my post :D . It is a BG29, so I understand I may have to part ways with her. Will be hard, since she is so pretty in her natural state.
Thank you Dave for your most respected advice.

If looking for a replacement, I second Brother Dave's advice. I bought a Kingman to hang out with an acoustic buddy and it darn near hold it's own, minimum amping needed.

I am not a big fan of anything made in China, but the Kingman has given me zero issues. Now if Fender would just finally ship the case for it to its retailers.

Sorry for the bad picture. Makes it look kind of yellow.

Thanks Stroker. It is lighter than the pic, but I really like it. A friend plays acoustic guitar and I bought it to play along. So far, so good. I don't have a really small amp, but I have a Rumble 100 which I barely have to touch to balance with him. A 15 would be fine for the duet.

My comment on the case has new info. Finally, the cases made it to the US and sold out as soon as they came in stock. We are talking thousands of basses and years of waiting. I received an email from Sweetwater that they had arrived and responded immediately. I then received an apology email from Sweetwater for accepting my order and not being able to fulfill it, with no restocking date known, money to be refunded. I did find one at Elderly, the last one...had to pay shipping, an extra $25...but this poor bass has been sitting on a stand for two years and, of course, it gets a little bang once in awhile. Elderly confirmed stock on the phone, so my fingers are crossed.

Played a T-Bucket tonight! Sounded swell, and I like the 32" scale. Would perfer a natural finish though. Kingman has been hard to find in stores around me. Patients is a virtue, need to try lots and take notes. "Now if I could remember what I meant when I wrote that down" :?
