So I am in the process of refinishing and reworking my '78 Musicmaster bass. In the interest of preserving the original body I bought a 2nd one to use for this project.

I also have a Squier Musicmaster bass that has a really nice "string through body bridge" and I was wondering if anyone has ideas on where I could get a replacement bridge of that type to install on this Fender Musicmaster.

Thanx in advance if you have any info to offer.

I wouldn't do the string through thing on the Fender. That is a perfectly good bridge on the Fender. It is one of C. Leo Fender's last Fender bridge designs. He used the same basic bridge concept on his next basses at Musicman.

THe bridge on the Fender is just like the first one you posted. But the bridge on the Squier has four individual saddles for better adjustment and the string through. I think that bass has much better sustain and a better low end with the string through bridge. As long as I got this 2nd body to play with I was hoping to go that route. Kind of make both Musicmasters the same ya know.

Have found a top mount with individual saddles so may at least go that route even if I don't find a string through model.

Thanx though.
