Greetings to all,
We trying to put a reggae band together here in Jamaica. To start with, to be able to get the musicians we need to buy all the instruments due to the circumstances we have around here, so the budget is kind of limited.
We thinking to buy the Affinity P Bass pack that comes with the amp and some more things or the Affinity Special w pack to start with..
Any comments or suggestions...
First of all...could we used them for a good stage performance for now until we can buy a next bass??? which one of the two bass guitar is better deal??
Any comment, any opinion or suggestion would be greatly appreciate it. :)
Give thanks
Oneness

The Affinity P-Bass is a good starter instrument but the starter pack amp is a home practice amp and inadequate for anything beyond individual home practice. I'd suggest instead the Fender Rumble 150 amp as the minimum for a Reggae band that will ever play anywhere.

You might as well know up front that the amps in the starter packs are home practice type amps. If you decide to look for a used amp, which is always less expensive than a new one, look for one with a 15 inch speaker and at least 100 watts of output. That is sort of the minimum I'd consider usable for the application you specify. Even a 60 or 75 watt amp isn't really going to be enough for any Reggae rig.

The choice between a Special or a P-Bass should be up to the player as the necks are slightly different. The Special is slightly more tonally versatile than the P-Bass but the P-Bass makes a good Reggae bass too.

Buy whichever instrument works best for your player and buy a decent amp in the first place as nobody will ever hear the bass part with a starter pack amp. To me a quality bass tone is a very critical Reggae band component. I wouldn't skimp on the bass amp.

The Affinity instruments are all decent starter instruments and represent a good value. The starter packs are primarily for beginners to practice with at home. If money was a concern I'd go with the Affinity instrument and a bigger amp than the one in the starter pack.

Just want to see you have a fighting chance!
