okay- I will tell you that white dots are white and parchment dots are off white. I'm sure someone will tell you all the technical make up of white and parchment but basically white is white (Titanium white) and parchment is off white ( more towards a mixture of Naples yellow with just a touch of burnt umber and some flake white or titanium white). Parchment would start with Titanium or Flake white then add the Naples and then the Burnt Umber- the last two colors being the least amount added to make the off white.

Now who can argue with that?

There are no white parchement dot markers - unless you're referring to the "clay" style dots Fender used in the early-to-mid 1960s.

And those "Clay" dots weren't even clay they were Asbestos. Leo had a stack of left over floor tiles that he punched position markers out of. It's kind of amazing to me all of the things they used that crap for back in the day.

I have had basses that have bright white dots and I've had a couple at least that have the off white or parchment. They may not call them that but there are different values of white wether on purpose or not. Now drop and give me twenty.... or not. :D

The clay dots were replaced by white pearloid circa 1965/66.

Glad to know that back in the day when I was a smoker my filters might have contained asbestos. And I wonder why I have heart disease. Of course there were a few other vices in the 60s, or so I've heard.

Never know what you will learn in the Fender Lounge.

The clay dot color can be mixed by using Burnt Sienna , a touch of Titanium white , a touch of Naples yellow and a very small touch of Cadmium Yellow medium.

Another way could be Cadmium Orange medium, Raw Umber, Raw Sienna,Cadmium Yellow medium and Titanium white.

Amazing using carcinogens to filter carcinogens. Granted I'm a smoker and have very little room to talk.
