I have a '66 Mustang bass that I was going to restore, until I destroyed the original pickguard today. So, I'll just move forward with putting it back into playing order again.

So, my question is: will a Badass II Bridge work on a Fender Mustang bass?

Thanks!
mjc

I think you could do it with all that room for intonation.

I would strongly encourage you to keep it as original as possible.

How'd you destroy the pg?

+1

Can't think of a way either? It should be pretty hard to break a pickguard.

I would keep the original bridge. I think a Mustang bass bridge is better than a Bad*ss2.

Have you ever noticed how similar the Mustang bass bridge is to a Music Man bass?

That makes sense when you consider that the Mustang was the last Leo Fender designed instrument design at Fender and his next instrument after that was the Music Man.

An original first year 66 in working order is worth some serious change. I would definitely keep it as original as you can (incl. bridge) and pop the bucks for an age appropriate replacement pickguard. Nice piece.

Cheers! Turns out to be a '68, and after some careful consideration (and everyone's sage advice) I'm going to keep it as close to original as possible, with the exception of new paint; I've decided to go with 3-Tone Sunburst... or possibly black gloss.
