Hey there guys. New to the community but have been a browser for a bit.

This past summer on 8/13, I was lucky enough to get given a Mark Hoppus Bass at a Blink-182 concert by the man himself! Best night of my life, but moving on. Haha.

I was wondering if by chance there would be anything different with the one he gave me compared to the one that's sold in retail. I'll throw some pictures up of it to see if anyone can spot anything.

I'm assuming it's the 2011 model? They didn't come in Black though.

Tell us why are you assuming it was made in 2011? You obscured the one numeric necessary to discern the year. So only you can tell the year now. It is the number after the MX. The M and X mean Mexico 2010 decade then add the next number to 2010 and you have the year the year. MX0= Mexico 2010, MX1= Mexico 2011, MX2= Mexico 2012.

Over the surprisingly long run of these they have been made in Black, Mary Kay White (sometimes listed as White Blonde but it is a dead ringer for the Mary Kay White finish), Surf Green Transparent, Shell Pink, Daphne Blue....gosh lots of colors. Now it is available in just the White Blonde and Surf Green Transparent, but previously has been made in all those other colors.

It also looks exactly stock production down to the "CE" & "Do Not Recycle" stickers on the model name engraved neck plate. MN0 right? 2012's have white pearloid guards. Not sure if black was a 2010 color on this or not.

Yeah it was in Hershey, PA. Got it because I have 182 tattooed on my forearm.

I was just wondering what year it was for no reason pretty much, just information I guess. I'll never part with it anyways.

The one cool thing to come out of this is I gave up playing guitar about 4 years ago, and since I got the bass, i've decided to learn bass.

Don't know if I should post this or not, but here's the video of me getting it. http://youtu.be/GhkJCLD4YqQ

Ahh I see. Thanks for the info. It says MX1 so i'm guessing it's the 2011 edition.

Cool, that would not have been that old when he gave it to you then. Amazing story! But HOW AND WHY did he give it to you?

I was 3rd row and I have Blink-182 tattoo'ed on my right forearm. He must of saw it and right before they were about to play their last song of the show, he said there was "business he needed to intend to" and then he gave me the bass haha. This recording is the whole process, which for some reason, I started recording out of nowhere, and captured this amazing moment happening to me!

Okay- I guess a somewhat famous musician actually uses his own stock mexican sig bass. I thought most of those guys (signature model guys) just do the deal with Fender but would never think of using a production model. I don't know what this tells me. I'm sure it's a great sounding Mark Hoppus bass though. I had one.

The MH Jazz comes in White Blond and Surf Green. It also sports an ash body.

Never saw that model in Black.
