Hey guys. I'm new to this forum but I've been cruising through the other posts and it sounds like you guys can help me out. I've recently started playing bass for the worship band at my church. I've only played guitar in the past so I'm currently playing a borrowed bass. I came across a really good deal on a Fender Musicmaster bass so I bought it hoping to sell it to fund a more high quality bass (I would love to keep it but I need a better bass to play ASAP and I'm not interested in collecting vintage guitars at this time). I was hoping you guys could give me a some suggestions on a fair price as well as any other info. Here's alittle about it as well as some pics. THANKS!!

Serial#372979 (1973 from what I've read)
Faded cream color appears to be original. Color is darker under pickguard.
Some discolorations on the back.
Bottom corner of pickguard is broken.
I've cleaned the pots and the jack. Jack is still noisy at times but sounds great.
Other than the one chip in the picture the finish is in good condition.

So if you aren't a bass player and are only using for worship group, why do you want to sell it? I'm just wondering, because many guitarists like the lighter weight of a short scale when they transition back and forth a lot. I should note that I have 2 Musicmasters I love so I'm a little biased. Looks like a nice little bass, a new pickgurad to replace the broken one and it would probably be very dependable.

Anyway, I've seen these on Evil-bay for anywhere from $400 on up for an instrument of this vintage. Good luck on whatever you do with it.

^ +1. Musicmasters are great. And if you are just starting cmcconnell82, the Musicmaster is a great starter guitar for you. Before buying a new one, why not improve your bass playing skills.

Nice MM bass! I'd keep it. But if you must sell it, I would not listen to anything under $600 and would start higher. I know one NYC vintage dealer with a '73 in this same color but slightly better condition who is asking $950.

Man! If these weren't short scale I would've bought one by now. I agree with the previous posts that this sounds like the perfect bass for you and your needs. Guitar players generally like the short scale, plus it's a good quality starter bass. I'd say wait, keep it, and love it unless you plan to make the switch over to our team. My two cents.
