Just snagged a 1990 Fender JP-90 with hardshell case for $80.00 tonight. The bass has some dings and dents, but after a good setup...This Thing Rocks :D :D :D :D :D

I owned a JP-90 for about 11 yrs. My personal second favorite Fender bass ever. Extremely versatile. The pickguard is freaky looking and tends to crack around the jack, so be careful and don't step on your cord. That is a remarkable bargain. These usually sell used for at least 350 dollars in average original shape and can go to $550 mint. Quite a find and an incredible bargain. They have a poplar body. Got me addicted to having a P/J pickup bass around. Not happy unless I got one around somewhere.

I just snagged one also. Paid $ 150. In excellent condition but neck is bowed bad and truss rod is maxed out. What are my options to fix this?

Thanks

Excellent price! I just sold my red one on eBay for $305.00, bass only. I packed it in a used SKB case, sold directly, and it is now residing in Russia.

So $390.00 to your $80.00. You did great!

Keep thumpin'!

Steve

Neck is bowed. I will first try to loosen and re tighten. If that doesn't work, then either will shim or take to luthier.

Go slow with that truss adjustment, or you'll end up with an "S" instead of a bow(as with any bass). I'd loosen the strings a little bit every day first. The JP90 I had was a funk machine..and was easy to get a great tone with.
