I am thinking of trying the 9120m's on my acoustic bass. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I've tried these on my acoustic/electric bass and, well I'd recommend them a lot. Sure they sound even better on electrics but they nail the acoustic bass tone perfectly. The gauge can be a slight pain but its never anything serious.

Only problem I personally had was that because of the gauge and the string through body, the bass almost never stayed in tune and had to tune it daily or sometimes twice a day. I currently switched to light gauge bronze strings and they've stayed in tune since July, with only a few tuning requirements.

Hope this helps.

I have tried them on every different style of Bass that I owned and sometimes even twice,my First Bass instructor used them on a "short scale"bass and they sounded killer and seeing his tone was what I liked I too tryed them, but for me they were hard to get to the close action I prefer, and they felt rubbery also.
I tried them throught the body, then through the bridge only and no matter what they did'nt "feel" right for ME.
They are a extremely personal type string, meaning they are NOT for everyone, everyone can play a flatwound or a roundwound and deal/live with it if they had to,but these stringfs are ment for a very selective type of player, and when the right player uses them they sound like a bass of old sounds like,be careful putting them on,they are a little thicker than normal and have had to fix many a nut that had the E string outer edge broken off because the string was too big and the nut was'nt altered,be sure they fit into the nut slot before tightening,or you too will need a new NUT

How do they wear on a fretted bass?
