I noticed mine has some dive.

When I release my right arm from the bass, it dives from my head level down about a foot.

Is this normal for a stang? I notice the body is small and the neck feels heavier than the body.

Let me know how yours is.

2 fixes, get a strap with seude on the back to assist with the friction and holding it in place oppossed to leather sliding up and down,OR move the strap button from the middle of the basses butt-end up close to the body recess area(about 3 in. or so)it will change the balance point(fulcrum?)almost forgot this one,the top strap button can be elongated with a 2 in metal rod.
Bear with me explaining this, they may still sell them but we made them ourselves, get a metal tube 3"in or so (diameter and thickness of a straw, nothing crazy)run a long screw through the strap button, down through the tube and into the basses original strap screw hole, the screws can be gotten from a hardware store and use washers on both ends, changing the length of the upper horn will change the balance point and help the n/dive,they used to be readily available but even easier to make and no need to make a new hole like the other option of moving the strapbutton upwards.

I have two Musicmaster basses and the "neck dive" on those is pretty similar to what you describe.

I don't like leather straps and don't want to modify so I've just learned to live with it. I guess to me it's the one price to pay for playing a comfortably sized bass.
