Hi all.

I recently got a Gibson SG bass, and love the shortscale so much.

So when I experienced the ecstacy of the shortscale, (and being a Pbassman my entire bass playing years) I decided had to get a Fender shortie!

I like the Mustang because the body is close to a P shape (also a J, for you J players out there).

I think a Pbass Jr. will be extremely hard to get, and 28.5" will probably be too short for me. 30 feels like the limit.

Tried a Mustang in the store the other day and it played and sounded great. Looked a little grimy from being on the wall, so I will probably order one from the dealer. Or I will just get the one I saw. I'll post pics when I get it. FJbass knows the horrors I endured special ordering the Gibson. So I may just get the Mustang that's on the wall tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help on my many questions and posts lately. I like black and burst, but only the Japanese retailers have them and they cost so much more than the ones available in the USA. Doesn't look like my preferred colors are on the horizon, so I will get what I can at the moment. I kinda like the white anyway.

Ready for some GAS release. I'll post pics when I get it, although I am sure you all have white ones, too.

Oh boy! Here we go again fjbass! Ha ha ha!

I just called the salesguy. When he calls back with the details I might just get the floor model rather than wait 90 days, if that is the case.

It is fine, I just like a darker fingerboard, and the body color looked a little different than I thought it was gonna be. But it played and sounded fantastic. I A/B'd it with a P they had there and couldn't hear a real difference (hush of the Precision forum. sorry guys.). Maybe I have iron ears, but they didn't sound that different to me. The 'stang seemed to have just as much power and full tone as the P (I'm gonna get banished from the Precision forum for sure). Maybe it was just that 'stang. I don't know. Some people say they don't have good tone or power. I thought it sounded great.

Heritage cherry is bad enough trying to photograph, but this vintage white looks snow white through cream to yellow, deopending on which website's picture you see.

Anyway, I am looking forward to it.

Definitely pics. He said it is a fancy case. Gig bags would be too wierd a size as the bass is between usual bass and guitar size. But I wanted a hardshell case anyway. They are shipping both. I will post pics. Maybe even sound clips to compare my P's with it.

I played a few myself at SamAsh over the last year or so and 2 of the 3 I played sounded much fuller than a couple of vintage ones I have worked on,the vintage ones always seemed to need a little help with thickness, they seemed to be thin so I added a pickup thats secured via the bridge screws to avoid altering a couple of 60s mustangs.
The new ones are def much meaty'er tone wise, one was thin but the whole bass looked like it was finished up at 4:30 pm on a Friday, but YEAH the new ones are a whole new breed(get it ? horse, mustang, new breed, get it?)I am big guy 6'1 330lbs and I look like a Ogre playing tennis with a shortscale bass strapped on,I am going to get a Bronco bass for home, nothings better than laying on the coach watching TV while playing a bass with some snacks HUH? You feel me? NO? Come on,no-one else?.
Maybe I will splurge on the Squier Mustang if they prove worthy.
goodluck w/new bass

Programmer's tip: use chopsticks to pick up the Cheetos -- helps keep the keyboard (or in this case, the strings) clean. :D

And I believe we're all still waiting for pix of the new lovely.
