Hello to everyone, I've been a Fender bassman my whole playing life. My first Fender bass was a 1969 white Tele bass. I loved that bass, but parted with it in 1974 for a sunburst jazz bass. I recently aguired a new Squier Tele bass for 90$ from a pawnshop and immediately fell in love with the feel and speed of that blond maple neck. It seemed to be a bit slimmer than the old Tele P- bass necks. I want to upgrade it a bit, to put it in my working basses arsenal. I've already put old Fender style machine heads on. My next idea is to put another exact Fender bass humbucker in the neck position. Could this work in a P - J type bass wiring configuration? I would appreciate any ideas before I order the Humbucker and route out the body! Thanks bros

Anything can work if your willing to put in the effort, you can wire it like a jazzbass or a precision and a jazzbass the choices are endless, its what you want to do.
I want to make one(tele style bass design) with two jazzbass pickups, both will be neck pickups, not one neck and one bridge, both the same type, wicked tone!!
Or maybe both bridge pickups and NO neck type, the choices are endless I am not sure how they will sound, may sound terrible but I can always put them in another bass and buy one of the other type pickup, its the law of the west,WAIT,no its not.sorry bout dat.

Or get a Gibson EB replacement pick up or a DiMarzio model one (the Billy Sheehan pick up).

I've seen lots of Telecaster Bass mods with a Jazz bridge pickup. I'd go with the 62 stacked pot setup. Or you can do a 3 way Toggle switch.
