I am wondering if there are any plans to do a reissue of the 80's era Jazz Bass Special, perhaps as a Duff McKagan signature bass. The price on these has been going up on Ebay and Duff has been a loyal Fender player for over 20 years...I think it may be time!

Duff has been a loyal Fender player for awhile and I know he was sporting the Aerodyne J for a bit when it came out. He does love his Japanese P/J combos. I second the fact that he's overdue for an artist model.

That would be cool, however I wish they'd bring back a decent Steve Harris signature bass next time out and produce it for a while. I think they made the last one for something like 6 months or so. Geddy Lee's signature has been around for 10 years now or something like that and Steve gets 6 months? I'd say that was pretty bad on Fenders part, especially because all Steve has even used really (Lado for a very short time) are Fenders. Geddy while a great player indeed, has been back and forth from Ric's, to Wal's To Steinberger's etc.

I love the Lee bass, but I want a dcent Harris signature!!

I think we can all agree that Steve and Duff should BOTH have a sig bass. They are both great influences...I think I would buy them both :D

That'd be pretty cool.

Course what they could just do is take a aerodyne , rout it for a side jack instead of the top one and put Duff's choice of pickups in it and other gear on it.

But a Bass totally Duff's own would be cool.

I have the same bass he uses, I've had it since new, it's an '88. I just got it redone w/EMG's - I know OMG you ruined the bass - and BadAssIII put on it. I love the bass even more now. To put that as a Duff sig tho, I don't think so personally, he can have the Aerodyne since he's been sporting that one lately....

Cheers

I thought his white bass was a Charvel, the black one he used was the Power Jazz Bass Special (MIJ)? Hmm, weird.

His original Jazz Bass Special was the white one. He didn't get the black
one(s) until Fender made him some. Jeez, you would think they would upgrade the bridge.

I wondered that too! Maybe it's supposed to look like a P/J 'bitsa'?

I heard that there was a model out already that's the exact copy of the $@! FJS basses from the 80's, and I did dig one up online after some rooting around. It's kinda pricey, but I know they sound good. I just wanna know if they have the Quarter Pound pick ups in it or did they chince out like the late 80's ones and go stock Fender?

Perosnally I'm very happy they've done this bass - in my time I've had 3 of the original 80's $@! JBS's and I was most happy with an '87 white pearl one I had. Well done Fender on this, now just give us back the Steve Harris sig model!!, and dont forget to make the scratchplate normal mirror this time, not red!!!
