In relation to the current production model as posted on Fender's website:

1. No case comes with it. Does Fender make a Mustang bass case I could get?

2. body wood not listed under the specs. Anyone know what it is?

3. Are they currently making them in different colors other than the vintage white?

4. I heard there is a Classic Series 65 version of the bass, like the guitar. But not listed on the site. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the great info. I don't know if the pups are SD or not. I saw the cases on MF. Good to know I can get one when I get a 'stang.

You can get a case, but the problem is that few, if any generic or non-Fender hard cases can accomodate the Fender Mustang Bass. If we were talking about any Precision Bass or Jazz Bass (Fender, Squire or any others, including the old no-name knock-off models), you can find a wide variety, some which sell as low as $50.00. I'm afraid that the only hard case that a Mustang Bass would fit is the Fender case, which (at last report, sells for about $150.00).
My original hard case, which was a real veteran of countless gigs and travels, eventually just desintegrated.

When the original Fender Mustang Bass was in production (1966-1981), there was an interesting variety of colors. Mine was made @1969. It was an interesting shade of blue, but turned a purplish color. It has a rally or "competion" stripe, giving it a very 1960's look. In 1974, the musicians who sold me their competition stripe mustang then bought a sunburst Mustang Bass, which looked like a Precision Bass.

1&2. (already answered)

3. As of 2011, the vintage white with tortoise shell pickguard is the only colour option.

4. As of 2011, only one Mustang Bass is in production, the one listed on the main site.
