What do you think of them?
I think the one with one humbucker is neat... I wonder what the price rage will be.

I really like that SS Jaguar, but do I really need another bass?

Of course not, but I do really like that red one.

I played one yesterday at my local Fender dealer.
I played the silver model with the huge music man looking humbucker.
First I should say I'm not a bass player so.... my opinions are less than scientific or even knowledgable.
Super light weight body ! great sound too.
I was looking for my son's birthday.
Also at 199 out the door, that is a huge bargain !!!!

I personaly like the burst model, reminds me of my Strat.

That humbucker one is a cool option, but that's not the Short scale is it? I'll have to look again but I thought that was only available in long/regular scale. Just not comfortable length for me, I love the shorties!

The Jaguar Specials came with active electronics and a regular Jazz Bass control plate.

I bought the Special. (That's the burst model in the pic, but I went with the Crimson Transparent finish.) I love this bass. I am a guitar player, but have played bass in bands in the past and finally decided to buy one. Glad I did. The middle pup is a P-Bass split single coil and the bridge pup is a J-Bass single coil. The controls are vol vol bass boost master tone. You can get a nice blend of the two pickups after fooling with the knobs long enough. I had to think about which model I wanted more before I bought. Between the Special and the Special HB, I'm glad I got what I did. The cool thing about the HB tho, is that since its only got the one humbucker in it (at the bridge, no less-right where I think a single pup should be), the controls are basically EQs. hi mid lo. Simple and great! I think Squier has really been coming out with some great looking high-quality stuff, especially for the price. I work hard, but don't make a lot of money (having a family of 5 anyway), so it's really nice to be able to buy the instruments I want. I don't care where it's made. A good guitar is just that, especially with a setup and maybe a couple of mods.

I was thinking the same as the OP...the one with the hb pup would be so great. I read 2 different reviews tho, both saying how bad the sound is with the hb. I would think it wouldn't be that bad, maybe just not that familiar Fender tone. Disclaimer tho, I've not played with the hb - yet. So I wouldn't mind going for the Crimson Red (transparent) p/j configuration with basswood body, as opposed with the agathis on the hb. BTW, the Crimson and 3TB is basswood, the black is agathis like the hb. The hb can be had with the silver, black or red. Maybe this summer I'd splurge and get one for myself - for $200 I'd be losing money not to buy one

Maybe the Squire forum would be a good place to ask about them too.

Rez, You'd look good with that Humbucking.

I tried it on Saturday, the Vintage Modified and the Vintage Modified Jag Spc sounds better Glen. I couldn't believe it. The tone is so flat, you can't get a better sound from it. Just too high endy for a humbucker. The PJ set up sounds fatter, lots of bottom end.
